Katie is the Executive Director and has been with One World Market since 2012.  She’s a Wittenberg University graduate with a double major in Theatre and Spanish.  Katie has been fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Argentina, Mexico and Guatemala.  In college, Katie discovered her interest in social justice during a Latin American philosophy class that led her to a summer abroad in Argentina. Working with the group Borderlinks, Katie helped lead a trip to Mexico for high school youth focusing on immigration and border issues.  In Guatemala, she went to language school and lived with a family for several months and can’t wait to go back.  Her exposure abroad has introduced Katie to the kind of injustice much of the world faces and has given her a desire to be part of the change that fair trade demands.  In her free time, Katie is usually cheering on one of her favorite sports teams, enjoying live music or trying out a new restaurant.

As the Community Program Manager, Brandy comes to One World Market with a commitment to connecting cultures and serving others.  She believes in conscience buying choices that support global social justice.  Brandy appreciates that each of the artisans featured in the store has a unique craft and inspiring story to share with our customers.  With an insatiable appetite for travel, Brandy’s own global adventures include swimming with wild whale sharks in Australia, hiking volcanoes in New Zealand, working abroad in London, dancing on tables at Munich’s Oktoberfest and camping in many National Parks from Glacier to Yellowstone to her personal favorite, Cumberland Island.  Brandy recently earned her MsED with a concentration in community well-being, social change and sustainable enterprise at the University of Miami.  Her public service career path began while directing a nearby adult literacy council.  With an entrepreneurial passion and a heart for service, she advocates for best business practices that empower solutions to social justice issues.  When not helping One World Market customers select the perfect fair trade treasures, Brandy can be found exploring the Triangle, planning her next travel adventure or chasing her four-legged crew.

Cara joined the One World Market team as part-time Sales Manager in October 2016. She has spent her life in Durham, with the exception of attending NC State for her bachelor's degree in Human Biology. There, she served as a mentor for Women In Science and Engineering (WISE) - an organization that ignited her passion for feminism, inclusiveness, and social justice. Cara has also logged many hours as a science educator in the community. One of her favorite aspects of her job at One World Market is teaching customers about artisans and what it means to be fair- trade. When she's not focused on making the perfect sidewalk sign for the shop, Cara can be found taking photos of her pet rabbit. Or, perhaps more likely, you'll find her at the river crouching excitedly over a rock or mushroom.

Diana began volunteering at One World Market in 2013 and was excited to join the staff as part-time Sales Manager in 2016. She is also an educator, traveler, adventurer, and dreamer. During several humanitarian trips to Kenya and Uganda, Diana saw first hand the positive impacts that Fair Trade can have on artisans around the world. She began volunteering at One World Market in 2013 and was excited to join the staff as Sales Associate in 2016. Diana is currently working on her PhD in Education at UNC. When she's not studying or at One World Market, you can find her cheering for the Tar Heels, hiking the Eno, roaming an antique store, or planning her next trip.

Renee joined One World Market as a part-time Sales Manager in 2017 and feels incredibly lucky to have gotten a job where she has loved to shop for years!  She has lived in Durham since 2006 and volunteered with several other non-profit organizations since that time. She is originally from Virginia Beach, VA, where she attained a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Marketing and a VA Teaching License at Norfolk State University. She has worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, each one giving her the knowledge, tools, courage, and experience to travel and live overseas. It was in the summer of 2006 on a mission trip to Jamaica, where she began thinking and acting more globally. Her eyes were opened to the many many many peoples who lived with so much less and started a journey to learn how to remember and love the poor abroad and locally. She has had the amazing privileges to travel to Puerto Rico, Uganda, Philippines, Romania, Hungary, and Croatia and lived in Brasov, Romania in 2016 working with Romanians and the Roma through a non-profit organization, Firm Foundations Romania. These travels and the relationships formed, especially in Romania, have given her a desire to raise awareness to the issues facing poorer countries and to find solutions together with like minded individuals. Renee also enjoys being outdoors on the trails or meeting a friend for good conversation and a great cup of joe!

A long-time fair trade fan, Amy joined the One World Market team as a part-time Sales Manager in 2017. She grew up in Chapel Hill and attended UNC, where she discovered a passion for service-learning, studied abroad in France, and interned with Carolina Navigators, helping provide free global education resources to NC teachers. After graduating with bachelor's degrees in Global Studies and Psychology, Amy joined the North Carolina LiteracyCorps, an AmeriCorps program, to pursue her passions for social justice and the nonprofit sector. While completing her service as a literacy tutor/mentor and volunteer coordinator for Communities In Schools of Durham, she began to immerse herself in the Durham community. Amy is excited for the opportunity to help educate this community about the world-changing power of fair trade at One World Market. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring, cheering on the Heels, and spending time with family, friends, and animals.
